The Dog Days Are Over

My best transformations are fueled by music.  There is always a soundtrack.

I need music, actually.  I forget this constantly, too, and will go through periods of virtual silence.  Then a song will wake me up - with a cold slap in the face or a warm bath of love.  Or make me feel sexy or strong or ALIVE.  Connected.  It will remind me to be in my body and feel my feelings.  It distracts the demons I've erected that immobilize me.  And quickly I feel tapped in and turned on and present to my higher self in a way I wasn’t before. And I am sprung forth!  Miraculously, I will spontaneously go for a run or take a dance class precisely because I want to be in my music.

This is another way that I have control.  I can turn up the volume, I can linger in the lyrics, and move my body to what moves my heart.   I find the pieces of me that are magic in music.  And joy.  And release!  Music is an escape hatch that gets me out of my head and into my heart.  And it's there that I reveal to myself what I most desire and line up to that vibration licketdy split.

(Of course, when I couple excessive music listening with excessive dancing, then I want to quit my job and become a full time Zumba instructor… )

What music inspires you right now?  What is the soundtrack of your metamorphosis?  I’d love to add to my collection!

This has been my theme song this year:   The Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine (FUN video!!!)

And thanks, Denise, for suggesting "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas - what a treat!

Ha! I knew it was you too! Actually, when I first started reading I assumed that it was Michelle's post and thought, "she sounds exactly like Jenna!" ;) Music means exactly the same things to me too, except I NEVER could have expressed this so eloquently! About to listen to your video links.....can't wait! ;)
