Breathe (squared)

So this weekend I was having such a block I nearly fell on the floor weeping. Completely overwhelmed by my own life. I was grumpy, short with everyone, and just plain difficult to be around. I needed a time out.

My empathic 7 yo daughter struggled to keep up with the whole energy of the moment, so she was off kilter too.

At one point, she took me by both arms, looked into my eyes, and said this:

"Mom, we are both having trouble being calm today. Why don't we just take a moment and breathe together. Ready? Let's go: BREATHE... BREATHE..."

I just want to know, which one of you is channeling her? I need to thank you! ;-)

OMG! I love that. It brought a tear to my eye. Kids say the darndest things - and the best things! How blessed you are!!!
I hope this opens up a Mother/Daughter meditation hour (or moment) for you two! How wonderful and what a memory and tradition to create and then to pass down thru the generations!

Sigh... Yes, agree wholeheartedly, Kim! She's an amazing spirit and very wildly smart on top of it. I like the meditation moment idea! Yes, yes, yes, thank you - will try it!!!

Off to read The Hobbit with my two... They love it.

She channeled YOU. You are teaching her the skills to get through days like that and she will have them. What a gift you've given her by showing that the mind can go to dark and cranky places, but we can pull ourselves out one breath at a time.
I hope today was gentle for you.

Thanks for being so authentic! That is the lesson isn't it. When we can take off the armour and just be honest we are then in the stream or the flow. Great lesson!
